OUR REASONABLE SERVICE
by Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc
Romans 12:1 says: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. In some version it is called true and proper worship. It is being done by offering ourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. It is being done in these manners:
1. Do not be conformed to this world – Romans 12:2 – instead we must be transformed by the renewing of our mind. Colossians 3:10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
2. Think soberly –Romans 12:3 – and not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think. 1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
3. Use the gifts entrusted to us for God’s glory – Romans 12:6-8 - according to the grace that is given to us. 1 Peter 4:10-11 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen
By offering a reasonable service, we may prove what good, acceptable and perfect will of God is.
As an ambassadors for Christ, I must always try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.
