CHILDREN OF GOD

1 John 2:29-3:3


I John 3:2 says: Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

Being a child of God, we should always be Christ-like. And being Christ-like we should possess the following:

1. Righteousness – I John 2:29 – as our Lord Jesus Christ is righteous, we must be the same. 1 John 3:7 Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous.

2. Loving – I John 3:1 – the Agape Love has been poured out on our hearts that we should practice every time. 1 John 4:9-10 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

3. Pure – I John 3:3 – our God is holy so we must be holy, pure and undefiled. 2 Corinthian 7:1 Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.

If we abide in Him we should possess all these characters. In that way we won’t be ashamed before Him at His coming.
I love God that is why I must do what He wants me to do.
