ANGER MANAGEMENT
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc
Jonah 4:1-11
Jonah 4:1 says: But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he became angry.
Anger means a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility. If we are angry there are lot of things that will happen that is against our favor. And these are as follows:
1. Anger can kill you – Jonah 4:3 – it will lead you to quitting or be in danger. Matthew 5:22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.
2. Anger will lead to a wrong frame of mind – Jonah 4:4 – it will make you illogical and give wrong judgment. Proverbs 14:17 A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, and a man of wicked intentions is hated.
3. Anger will blind you – Jonah 4:10-11 – it will keep from seeing the good side of every circumstances as your anger prevails in a situation. 2 Timothy 2:23-25 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth.
We only have great power when we control our emotions and have patience, unlike those who let their anger take over.
I will make it a point to refrain from sinning when I get angry.
