"THE HUMILITY OF CHRIST"
By. Oliver Castro Mutuc
Philippians 2:1-11
Philippians 2:8 says: And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Our Lord Jesus Christ was born in an animal pen and not on the comfort of a palace room. He sleeps on the boat, under a tree and not on a royal bed. Because of His obedience to God, humility prevails over Him. And this is what we must emulate to meet His standard of humility:
1. Value others above yourselves – Philippians 2:3 – this is to be done by doing nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Romans 12:10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
2. Think of the interest of others rather than yours – Philippians 2:4 – this is to be done by avoiding self-centeredness. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
3. Have the same mindset as Christ Jesus – Philippians 2:5-7 – who did not consider equality with God and taking the very nature of a servant. 2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.
For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
I must practice humility at all times and avoid boasting.
