"BEING GENEROUS"
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc
2 Corinthians 8:2 says that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality.
God wants us to excel in giving. He could even provide scarcity and yet we could be hardly affected if we are all givers. How to become a cheerful giver:
1. Give ourselves first unto the Lord – 2 Corinthians 8:5 – and then to those who are need. Psalm 37:5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
2. Be abound in everything -2 Corinthians 8:7 - in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us and grace. 2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.
3. Readiness of desire to give –2 Corinthians 8:11 – we must have a willing mind to do it. Deuteronomy 15:7-8 If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, 8 but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs.
We cannot out give God. The more we give the greater God will give in return.
God loves a cheerful giver that is why giving should always be my lifestyle.
