"SEEKING FORGIVENESS
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc
1 Samuel 25:35 says: Then David accepted from her hand what she had brought him and said, “Go home in peace. I have heard your words and granted your request.
” Forgiveness is sometimes very hard to grant especially when we were severely hurt by certain situation. But as God forgives we have to do it as well.
1. Be apologetic – 1 Samuel 25:24 – be humble and sincere in asking for apology. Psalm 51:3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.
2. Offer peace gesture – 1 Samuel 25:27-28 – as a sign of apologetic gesture offer some gifts. Proverbs 7:14 I was due to offer peace offerings; Today I have paid my vows.
3. Bless the offended party – 1 Samuel 25:33 – with good judgment to keep him from avenging. 2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
When forgiveness prevails both parties will be loosed from bondage.
If I hurt someone, I will apologize the soonest possible time.
