ABSTANING FROM FLESHLY LUSTS
By Rev, Oliver Castro Mutuc
1 Peter 2:11-21
1 Peter 2:11 says: Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul.
Fleshly lust includes pride of life and lust of the eyes.
To refrain from doing this, we should observe the following:
1. Have your conduct honorable – 1 Peter 2:12 – which glorify God by your good attitude which the people see. 1 Peter 1:15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.
2. Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake –1 Peter 2:13 – for being humble and submissive is the will of God. Titus 3:1 Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work.
3. Honor the king by honoring people – 1 Peter 2:17 – Servants should be submissive to masters with all fear. Romans 13:7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
Doing good and being submissive is commendable to God.
I have to abstain from doing sin by maintain good deeds every time.
