THE HOLY SPIRIT
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc
Romans 8:9-17
Romans 8:16 says: The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.
The Holy Spirit is our daily partner. He is always there to do things that we need in our life. Here are some of His functions according to our passage for today:
1. The Holy Spirit dwells in us – Romans 8:9-11 – so if we don’t have the Spirit of Christ, we are not His. 2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”
2. The Holy Spirit gives life – Romans 8:12-13 - if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. Galatians 6:8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
3. The Holy Spirit leads us to be sons of God – Romans 8:14-17 – for we received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” Verse 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.
The Spirit dwells, gives life and leads us that is why we are victorious.
I will always allow the Holy Spirit to move in me and I will not let Him grieve as much as I could.
