COMFORT AND EDIFY ONE ANOTHER,
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc
I Thessalonians 5:11-18
1 Thessalonians 5:11 says: Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
Loving one another includes comforting and edifying each other. And we express it in these manners:
1. Recognize your leaders who labor among you – 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 - esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Hebrews 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.
2. Warn those who are unruly – 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15 - See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone. 2 Timothy 2:24-25 And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.
3. Rejoice, pray and give thanks always – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 - for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Philippians 4:6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
As we comfort and edify each other, God will pour out His love to us all the more.
Comforting and edifying people is one of my favorites that I always do.
