NEW YEAR’S PRAYER
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc
Psalm 143:7 says: Answer me speedily, O Lord; my spirit fails! Do not hide Your face from me, lest I be like those who go down into the pit. We all experienced a different year in the year 2020. And this year 2021 we must ask the following:
1. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk –Psalm 143:8 – for we trust and lift our souls to you. Psalm 25:4-5 Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.
2. Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies –Psalm 143:9 – for you are our hiding place. Psalm 61:3-4 for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. Let me dwell in your tent forever! Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings!
3. Teach me to do Your will – Psalm 143:10 - Lead me in the land of uprightness. Psalm 25:4-5 Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.
4. Revive me, O Lord, for Your name’s sake – Psalm 143:11 – so that my soul will be out of trouble. Psalm 138:7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me.
The prayer of the righteous avails much that is why we have to pray for these so that our prayer will become effective.
I don’t have New Year’s resolution but I will always obey God’s will in my life to become an effective worker of God.
