THE WONDROUS WORKS OF GOD

Image
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc  Job 37:14-24 Job 37:14 says: Listen to this, O Job; Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God. Our God is excellent in power, in judgment and abundant justice; He does not oppress. That is why nothing is impossible to Him. 1. He control the heavenly bodies – Job 37:15-16 - He is perfect in knowledge and everything fall into proper places. Proverbs 3:19-20 The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens; by his knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop down the dew. 2. He quiets the earth by the wind – Job 37:17-18 – He spread out the skies, strong as a cast metal mirror. Isaiah 44:24 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: “I am the Lord, who made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself. 3. With God is awesome majesty – Job 37:21-22 - And he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord in the majesty of the name of

WE ARE THE WORK OF YOUR HAND

Image
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc Isaiah 64:1-8 Isaiah 64: 8 says: But now, O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand. We are all under construction and our character is being molded by God from day to day. And as He does it He is doing great things: 1. He is doing awesome things we do not expect –Isaiah 64:3 – the mountains of problems that gives us a hard time trembles. Psalm 65:5-6 By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness, O God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas; the one who by his strength established the mountains, being girded with might. 2. He acts for the one who waits for Him – Isaiah 64:4 – and no one can do it better than Him. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches e

OUR GOD SHALL CUT THEM OFF

Image
by Rev.  Oliver Castro Mutuc Psalm 94:2, 16-23 Psalm 94:23 says: He has brought on them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; The Lord our God shall cut them off. Whenever we are weary, whenever we are being attacked, we have a great God that is always ready to help us up. 1. His Mercy will hold us up – Psalm 94:18 – if we stumble and cannot rise up, His helping hand is always available. Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. 2. His comforts delight our souls – Psalm 94:19 - In the multitude of our anxieties, His care is always at hand. 2 Corinthians 1:4-5 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.

TO BE OR NOT TO BE

Image
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc Esther 4:5-14 Esther 4:14 For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Life in this world is full of surprises. Actions are better than words so they say. But before you decide to act on something, these are the factors to be considered: 1. If we remain completely silent - there are times we fail because of our reluctance. We tend to be self-centered and afraid to take the risk or we are lazy to render such a task. Unmindful of the circumstances that would happen should we fail to act on a certain matter. Deuteronomy 31:8 And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed. 2. Relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will per

DELIGHT IN GOD’S COMMANDMENTS

Image
by Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc Psalm 119:33-48 Psalm 119: 47 says: And I will delight myself in Your commandments, Which I love. God’s statutes are for our own good. That is why our utmost obedience and observation is badly needed for us to benefit from it. Upon having so, we should ask the following: 1. To teach and give us understanding of His commandments -Psalm 119:3-34 for us to keep and observe all God’s statutes with all our heart. Psalm 119:26-27 When I told of my ways, you answered me; teach me your statutes! Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works. 2. To make us walk in the path of His commandments –Psalm 119:35-37 and to turn away our eyes from looking at worthless things. Ezekiel 36:26- And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be car

THE LIVING STONES

Image
By Rev, Oliver Castor Mutuc 1 Peter 2:1-10 THE LIVING STONES 1 Peter 2: 5 says: you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. As we crave for the word of God, we have known that the Lord is gracious that is why we are aiming to be like Him. We are now considered as living stones and will have the following: 1. We are being built up to be a holy priesthood – 1 Peter 2:5 – so that we can offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:20-22 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. 2. We are a chosen generation –1 Peter 2:9 - that we may proclaim the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelou

DOING THE WILL OF GOD

Image
By Oliver Castro Mutuc Isaiah 58:6-9 Isaiah 58:9 says: Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ “If you take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness. God wants us to always do His will in our life. And upon doing so, here are the things that we will get as rewards: (Isaiah 58:8) 1. Your light shall break forth like the morning – you will grow more with Christ and His words and your testimony will always be good and attractive. Psalm 97:11 Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart. 2. Your healing shall spring forth speedily – you get stronger in faith and you will be healed in all aspects of your life. Isaiah 57:18 I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners. 3. Your righteousness shall go before you - the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard to keep you free from sin. Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the

THINGS THAT DEFILE A MAN

Image
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc Matthew 15:1-11, 16-20 Matthew 15:18 says: But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. The true sin is taking God for granted. When we are unmindful of Him this will lead us in committing the following: 1. Vain worship – Matthew 15:9 – giving false doctrines and creating deceptions. Isaiah 29:13 And the Lord said: “Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men. 2. Evil thoughts –Matthew 15:18-19 – bad things resulting from evil ideas. Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Frequent communi

THE HOLY SPIRIT

Image
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc Romans 8:9-17 Romans 8:16 says: The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. The Holy Spirit is our daily partner. He is always there to do things that we need in our life. Here are some of His functions according to our passage for today: 1. The Holy Spirit dwells in us – Romans 8:9-11 – so if we don’t have the Spirit of Christ, we are not His. 2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” 2. The Holy Spirit gives life – Romans 8:12-13 - if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. Galatians 6:8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. 3. The Holy Spirit leads us to be sons of God – Romans 8:14-17 – for we rece

THE GLORY OF GOD

Image
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc Psalm 19:1-6 Psalm 19:1 says: The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork . The glory of God is our source of everything. And it is being on the following reasons based on the passage today: 1. The heaven show His handiwork – Psalm 19:1 – there is nothing that God cannot do as the firmament reveals. Romans 1:19-20 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 2. His speech reveals knowledge –Psalm 19:2-4 - There is no speech nor language where His voice is not heard. Psalm 33:6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host. 3. His light is much brighter than the sun – Psalm 19:5-6 - and there is nothing hidden from its heat. Isaiah 4:5 The

SPIRITUAL ADULTERY

Image
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc Proverbs 5 Proverbs 5: 3 says: For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil. This is how temptation is described. It looks attractive, sweet and beautiful but in the end is bitter and awful. If we succumb to it, our spiritual life will ruin. This is what we should do to avoid spiritual adultery: 1. Seek wisdom and discernment from God – Proverbs 5: 1-2 to be able to discover the traps of the devil. Proverbs 22:17 Incline your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge. 2. Do not depart from the words of God – Proverbs 5: 7 let these be your guide from the scheme of the devil. Proverbs 3:21 My son, do not lose sight of these— keep sound wisdom and discretion. 3. Remove your way far from temptation – Proverbs 5: 8 do not go near the door of her house. Ephesians 5:11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. Obeying God will keep you from ruin and destruct

MY SOUL THIRST FOR GOD

Image
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc Psalm 42:1-11 Psalm 42: 2 says: My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? There are times, when we feel like we were lost in the sight of God. Especially when we kept on sinning. But God, full of grace, He is always there to lift you up. Just do the following: 1. Come to the presence of God –Psalm 42:4 – have fellowship to those who are on fire to ignite your heart. Psalm 55:14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked to the house of God in the throng. 2. Hope in God –Psalm 42:5 – and praise Him for His saving grace. Psalm 37:7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! 3. Always remember God –Psalm 42:6-8 – pray unceasingly to God wherever you are. Jonah 2:7 When my life was fainting away, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer came to you, into your holy temple. With these, your thirst for God will b

THE EVIDENCE OF FAITH

Image
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc Hebrews 11:1-6 Hebrews 11:1 says: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is the essence of our relationship to God. We cannot see God but we can always feel Him in many circumstances of our lives. And faith is very evident because of the following: 1. By faith we understand creations – Hebrews 11:3 – everything was created by the word of God. Psalm 33:6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host. 2. By faith we can offer with excellence without fear – Hebrews 11:4 – upon doing so, we can be made righteous. 2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 3. By faith we can be protected from harm – Hebrews 11:5 – as God will always take care of us. John 8:51-52 Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.” The Jews said to him, “Now we know

COMFORT AND EDIFY ONE ANOTHER,

Image
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc I Thessalonians 5:11-18 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says: Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing. Loving one another includes comforting and edifying each other. And we express it in these manners: 1. Recognize your leaders who labor among you – 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 - esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Hebrews 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. 2. Warn those who are unruly – 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15 - See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone. 2 Timothy 2:24-25 And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth. 3. Rejoice, pray and gi

GOD SHOWS NO PARTIALITY

Image
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc Acts 10:34-38 Acts 10: 34 says: Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. God shows no discrimination. He sends rain and gives air and sun to everyone. Whoever fears Him and works righteousness will receive the following: 1. Acceptance – Acts 10:35 – God accepts everyone who wants to follow Him. Genesis 4:7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” 2. Peace – Acts 10:36 – the peace brought about by the gospel is being given to us. Psalm 119:165 Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble. 3. Healing – Acts 10:38 – with the power of the Holy Spirit He will heal all of us who were oppressed by the devil. Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recoverin

THE BREAD OF LIFE

Image
John 6:47-51, 60-66 John 6:48 says: I am the bread of life. Bread is one of the essential foods of many cultures all around the world. For many countries, bread is usually the staple at the table during meals instead of rice. Our Lord Jesus compared Himself to rice as it is essential, based on the following: 1. The living bread which came down from heaven – with our Lord Jesus Christ in our midst, there is nothing you would ask for. Verse 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.” Matthew 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” 2. The Spirit who gives life – the bread is the word of God. Verse 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. Matthew 4:4 But H

WHY WORRY?

Image
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc Matthew 6:25-34 Matthew 6:25 says: “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?   God has given us the faith so that worries will no longer be in our system. These can only lead us to stress.  1. Do not worry about your life – Matthew 6:25-27 - life is more than food and the body more than clothing. Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 2. Do not worry about your clothing – Matthew 6:28-30 - if God so clothes the grass, will He not much more clothe you. Philippians 4:6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 3. Do not worry about tomorrow – Matthew 6:34 - Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Hebrews 13:5-6 Keep your life free fr

THE COMMISSIONING

Image
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc 1 Samuel 16:1-7 1 Samuel 16:1b says : Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons.” God uses people when He wants to install or ordain other people. And these are the things needed to prepare the process: 1. Fill you Horn of Oil and Go – 1 Samuel 16:1 - to be ready for spiritual instruction from God to do a special task. Ruth 3:3 Wash yourself therefore, and anoint yourself and put on your best clothes, and go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking. 2. Take a heifer with you, and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to the Lord – 1 Samuel 16:2b – give a sacrifice of praise unto the Lord. Psalm 50:23 The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!” 3. You shall anoint for Me the one I name to you – 1 Samuel 16:3 – render the an
