BLESS THE LORD OH MY SOUL
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc
Psalms 103:1 says: Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
We have all the reasons that our souls should bless our Lord.
1. He forgives our iniquities and heals our diseases –Psalms 103:3-4 – likewise He redeemed us from destruction. Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed.
2. He satisfies our mouth with good things – Psalms 103:5 – to renew our strength like eagles. Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
3. The Lord is merciful and gracious – Psalms 103:8-12 – He will not keep His anger forever. Psalm 86:15 But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.
The Lord executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.
The Lord is my God whom I will worship forever.
