CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON
By Rev. Oliver Castro Mutuc
Romans 8:29 says: For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
Our main goal of being a Christian is to be Christ-like. It is in this process that we become righteous. And this is the process:
1. We groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies – Romans 8:22-25 - For in this hope we were saved. Galatians 4:4-5 But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.
2. The Spirit helps us in our weakness – Romans 8:26 – by teaching us how to pray through His wordless groans. John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
3. The Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God – Romans 8:27-28 – for us to be able to love God and live according to His purpose. Philippians 1:19 For I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance.
We are so blessed because we are predestined, called, justified and glorified.
I always think that God works for the good of me as I love Him and do His will in my life.
