'PRAYING MORE EARNESTLY"

Text: Luke 22:39-46

Luke 22:44 says: And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. “Pray until you pray”.

The best kind of prayer is earnest prayer. Here are God’s instruction of a fervent prayer:

 1. “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” –Luke 22:40 – prayer is the best weapon against the devil. Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

 2. “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” – Luke 22:42 – let the will of God prevail over our own will. 1 Peter 3:17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil.

3. “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray” – Luke22:46 – get out of your comfort zone and seek God. Jonah 1:6 So the captain came and said to him, “What do you mean, you sleeper? Arise, call out to your god! Perhaps the god will give a thought to us that we may not perish.”

Praying fervently should always be our attitude towards prayer.

I will always pray intensely and fervently.
