" GIFT OF GOD "

Text : Ephesians 2:1-10

Eph. 2:8 says: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. 

Grace is a gift from God. We were cleansed, forgiven and because of His grace. We were all dead because of our transgression, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. But by His gift for us, we experienced the following:

1. God made us alive with Christ – Eph. 2:5 – because of our sinful nature we were all considered dead. Colossians 2:13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins.

2. God raised us up with Christ – Eph. 2:6 - and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

3. God expressed His kindness to us in Christ – Eph.2:7-8 – by saving us by His grace through our faith. Isaiah 54:8 In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,” says the LORD your Redeemer.

We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.
